Gaga/people classes offer a framework for users to connect to their bodies and imaginations, experience physical sensations, improve their flexibility and stamina, exercise their agility and explosive power, and enjoy the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere.
Throughout the class, participants are guided by a series of evocative instructions deployed to increase awareness of and further amplify sensation. Rather than turning from one prompt to another, information is layered, building into a multi-sensory, physically challenging experience. While many instructions are imbued with rich imagery, the research of Gaga is fundamentally physical, insisting on a specific process of embodiment. Inside this shared research, the improvisational nature of the exploration enables each participant’s deeply personal connection with Gaga.
Gaga/people classes are open to people ages 16+, regardless of their background in dance or movement.

Céline Barreau is an independent dance artist currently working in the UK and in Switzerland. She grew up in Switzerland where she received professional ballet training and then moved to the US where she completed her studies in Neuroscience & Behaviour while still performing in venues along the East Coast. After some time working in a ballet company, she moved back to Europe to study contemporary improvisation methods and fell in love with Gaga. She spent a year in Tel-Aviv training under the direction of Bosmat Nossan and Ohad Naharin and became a certified Gaga teacher in 2021. She has since taught in London, Leeds, Cardiff, Montreal, Zurich, Luzern, and Amsterdam to dance companies, professional dance students, and dance lovers alike.

The workshop, as part of the IGTZ-Profitraining & Workshops Zentralschweiz, is organised in the frame of “PLATZ DA! Festival of the Local Dance and Theater Scene” in Luzern (CH). From September 20th to 23rd, 2023, a festival of the local dance and theater scene will take place as a co-production of t. Zentralschweiz, IGTZ, and the Darstellende Künste Pavillon.
Every day, you can expect a mix of various performances from the region, networking events, and workshops.
