Class description
The practice proposed in this class is a synthesis of the different ways Antoni has been approaching floor work over the past ten years. It breaks down the question of how to use gravity as a movement generator. Using mainly improvisation, this question will be answered through the exploration of different concepts such as:
– Becoming conscious of the use of our weight through the points of contact we create with the floor.
– Exploring the idea of being both relaxed and active, using the needed tension in order to facilitate movement while getting rid of unnecessary rigidity.
– Using our body as a holistic organism: Seeing it as a whole rather than separated, we will find ways to make our full body contribute to the movement.
In this class, Antoni Androulakis will also share his background in acrobatics. More specifically, participants will be encouraged to look at different patterns and figures as movements rather than “tricks” to include them in their own dance.
Antoni does not differentiate between the way he deals with movement and how he deals with his daily life. His teaching is therefore a synthesis of his intuitive understanding of things he is actively practicing: awareness, challenge and playfulness.
