Workshop Zentralschweiz #4 Flying low & Passing through with Simon Wehrli

Flying Low and Passing through are two contemporary dance techniques originally developed and taught by David Zambrano. In this one day intensive workshop we will work with both techniques and explore how they are strongly linked.
Making use of spirals and curves we will move into the floor and out of the floor, cross the space on constantly new pathways and work with principals of expansion and cohesion. Together we are creating an ever changing dance web in which we are all interconnected. The goal is to remain calm also in moments of high intensity and to enhance our awareness for the body, the space and our co-dancers. Eventually the proposed form becomes a vehicle towards more freedom in movement and expression.

Simon Wehrli started as a musician, attended the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Verscio (CH) and then studied contemporary dance with Trinity Laban London (UK). In 2010, Simon was selected to participate in the international project „50 days of flying low and passing through“ Costa Rica 2010 under the direction of David Zambrano. Simon toured Europe, the USA, and Africa as part of the physical theater group Collettivo Spettatori and the dance improvisation group 50collective. As a dancer, actor, and musician he worked for choreographers in many major cities. Own creations include amongst others Greatest Hits (2013), How to become Clairvoyant (2016), Nature Poetry (2018), Nothing Works (Shakira, Shakira) (2019/20), Deep Purple (2022). Simon teaches dance in Switzerland and abroad, regularly works for the Dance Bachelor of La Manufacture Lausanne and is busy with his own productions as well as collaborations.
